Thanet Green Party was thrilled to be able to support Thanet's "Make the Wave" protest on 10 June. With our Chair Mike Garner there to offer support, Green Party Councillors Tricia Austin and Becky Wing took part in the sand dance, together with members Michelle Thomas, Garry Saunders, Elke Heckel and Trudi and Emily Peagood. Vice Chair Deb Shotton and Policy Advisor Phil Shotton supported with administrative help for the risk assessment and safety back-up on the day.
Everyone present thoroughly enjoyed the protest and were pleased to be able to amplify the serious message of "Make the Wave"; rising sea levels threaten us all, especially people in coastal communities. Action needs to be taken now and if this UK-wide protest managed to reach the ears of the G7 leaders, it will have added to the clamour of global protests.
There is no Planet B! We have got to look after the one we've got.
