Local Election Candidates

Elections take place on 4th May for our representatives on Kent County Council. Since the Boundary Commission changed electoral boundaries,     Thanet is divided into 5 electoral divisions for CC elections: Birchington & Rural, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Margate and Cliftonville.

We are standing paper candidates in 4 of these divisions:

  • Natasha Ransom, Birchington and Villages: “I’m Thanet Green Party’s Branch Co-ordinator and I’ve been leading the Working Group campaigning on the Thanet Local Plan. I live in the village of Monkton. I stood in the 2015 District Council elections and I’m passionate about giving a voice to the Thanet Villages.”
  • Terry Macdonald, Broadstairs:  Terry is Treasurer of the Green Party Branch in Thanet and lives in Broadstairs. He is interested in a wide range of environmental issues, particularly climate change and pollution. He is concerned about the implications of Brexit and wants to make sure we keep our communities inclusive.
  • Bernard Kirkham, Margate: “I’ve lived in Thanet for thirty years, the last four in the centre of Margate. I would set out to help the community come together from its present fractured state, and work to get our neglected public spaces looked after.”
  •  Mike White, Cliftonville:   Mike is a retired builder who’s travelled all over the world, studying at first hand our impact on the planet. He’s concerned about wildlife conservation on both land and sea. Politically, he is particularly interested in housing issues - solutions to homelessness, affordable rents and house prices.
