Farewell from Trevor

Trevor says: “It’s been an honour to serve the Villages.”

Popular and hardworking Thanet Villages Green Councillor Trevor Roper has sadly decided to resign, after finding himself stuck in France for an unintentionally extended period by increasingly restrictive Covid rules.

After selling their house in Minster & then renting locally, Trevor and his wife Karen travelled to France to realise their retirement dream of buying a French property – but Covid rules then stopped them returning home.

With meetings taking place only online, Trevor participated fully – and his ward work was uninterrupted with help from local members. He hoped opening-up would allow him to return, but sadly this kept being delayed, so didn’t happen in time.

Leader of the Green group on TDC, Cllr Mike Garner, commented, “Trevor has been an excellent local Councillor. He’s always been responsive to residents’ concerns and has received great feedback. He’ll be sadly missed by the people in his ward and by all of the Thanet Green group.”

Trevor says: “Standing down has been so much easier knowing that local Green Campaigner Abi Smith is ready to take my place. I’m delighted because she’ll be able to do so much more, now we can do things in person again.”
